Choosing Your Song
If you haven’t chosen your song yet or you are debating between several, we have a few recommendations to guide your selection.
The following song characteristics are helpful for beginning dancers:
- Moderate tempo (A slower pace can be more difficult than a moderate pace)
- Strong rhythm section (Audible bass and drums will help you hear and maintain a consistent pace)
- Song length of 2.5 – 3.5 minutes (Perfect for showing off without too much repetition)
- Makes you smile or laugh (It’s a moment for the two of you.)
For private lessons, be sure to bring your song on a CD or iPod so that we can start using it during the first lesson. Should you forget, no worries. We’ll use a similar song in feel and tempo from our collection.
We look forward to helping you pick the music that will inspire a fabulous dance and great photos.
