Born and raised in Chicago, Tony Ovalle began developing his passion for dance during his undergraduate years at DePaul University. During his time in Ritmo Dembow he had the opportunity to learn and train with some of Chicago’s staple Latin Dancers from various dance studios across the city and other prominent dancers in the country. In order to further his craft in dance and supplement his extensive mambo background, Tony has trained in various other genres of dance that include Ballet, Jazz and Modern.
Within his 12 years of dancing Tony has been part of multiple dance groups for which he has gained experience working with others. He is a former dancer of Urban Vibe, Latin Rhythm’s Bachata Legacy Pro, and principle dancer on Modern Clave Dance Company, and Kinetics Dance company.
Throughout the years he has competed at 7 international Salsa competitions, the World Latin Dance Cup and the World Salsa Summit, as well as performed across the nation and overseas in the Dominican Republic. In addition to developing his own dance skills, Tony has assisted others in furthering their mambo dancing by teaching in Chicago and Milwaukee for the past 3 years.
