The following information is specific to our 4-Week progressive group classes.
Group classes are typically taught as 4-week series, which meet once/week for a full hour. Here’s an example: Swing I meets Tuesdays from 7-8pm for 4 weeks in a row. To find your next class, visit our upcoming class schedule.
Classes typically have between 10 and 20 people. We strongly recommend pre-registering to:
1) To secure your spot
2) Save $5 and
3) Help us balance the number of leads and follows in the class
You do not need a partner. In fact, we encourage participants to rotate partners throughout the lesson. Rotating significantly increases the rate of skill building, and it’s also a great way to meet others who are interested in this fantastic hobby. However, if the thought of rotating is a bit intimidating at first, you are welcome to bring and stay with your partner. We want you to feel comfortable during your lessons.
It’s a bummer, but classes are subject to cancellation due to low pre-registration. Each student will be notified via email and a phone call if that happens. To help avoid cancellations, please pre-register or at least drop us an email to let us know that you plan on attending a class. If Dance Center Chicago cancels a class or workshop for any reason, the student will receive a full refund.
For those students that have schedules that make it difficult to commit to a multi-week series, we suggest private lessons which can be scheduled individually, according to your availability.
Assuming there is still space available in a class, you may “drop in” for the first week of a group class series at the rate of $18/class. Please email us or call 773-880-5044 if you’d like to drop in, so we can ensure that each class maintains a balance of leads and follows.
Free street parking days: Spots may be available on Byron, Berenice or Damen.
Free lot parking evenings and weekends: Available in the MB Financial Bank lot located on the southwest corner of Damen and Irving Park M-F after 5:30 pm; Saturday after 1:30 pm; Sunday all day. Entrance to the lot is on Damen.
Metered street parking: Available on Lincoln Avenue at $1.50 per hour for up to three hours.
Metered city lot parking: Located one-half block south of the studio on the northwest corner of Berenice and Lincoln. The charge is $1.50 per hour for up to three hours. Entrance to the lot is on Berenice which is one-way westbound.
Parking is plentiful. It just one of the reasons we love our location.
